They say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. In what is probably the most enduring fable ever written, an old man gives his soul the devil in exchange for more time, for power, and happiness. Now, he can get whatever he wants - except fulfillment. Is it too late to change his mind?

Reviews and Audience Response for THE HYSTERIA OF DR FAUSTUS:
"Timeless and Classic...4 Stars!" - Opplaud
"In the Off-Off Broadway world, while it’s fairly often that you see something visually inventive, or something that makes you think, “Team Seeing Place” manages to marry them both, a much rarer feat, deserving of packed houses." - Gregor Collins, Theater That Matters
"The Seeing Place Theater is unique among the treasure trove of (sadly) underfunded small companies that occupy various corners of New York City, making theatrical magic out of sheer willpower, talent, and bottomless imagination...This play is well-worth seeing, and, more importantly, it represents the next great leap forward for this always-exciting company. " - Howard Miller, Upstage-Downstage
"This is an old story that never gets old and becomes fresh and new by the admirable The Seeing Place Theater...a bold choice to produce in the wake of the #MeToo Movement." - Eva Heinemann, HI! Drama
"Ambitious, Intelligent, Thought-provoking, Resonant. I really enjoyed everything about this show. 100 out of 100." - Joseph Cavalieri, Show Score
"Oh my God, I almost didnt get to see this show. So glad I did. It is frightening, insightful, intriguing, and leaves a lasting impact. 100 out of 100." - Daniel Roemer, Show Score
"See it if you would like to see a classic or get a taste of Halloween, this play is perfect. It is visceral, well written, it's truly epic. Seriously, this is one of the best off broadway plays I've ever seen! This is a phenomenal story, modernized for today's audience. It's philosophically provocative, the writing is incredible and the talented cast gave such an amazing, deliberate and unforgettable performance. Everyone should see this play! It's entertaining to the core, it will make you think. I left the theatre in absolute awe. DO NOT MISS OUT ON DR> FAUSTUS! - Felicia 8289, Show Score
"Absorbing, Clever, Great acting, Entertaining, Great staging. A talented relatable cast and rewrite breathes new life into the old tale in intimate surroundings." - Daniel K, Show Score
"Absorbing, Ambitious, Thought-provoking, Resonant. See it if you want to experience an original adaptation, and points of view on the archetypal story of Faust with a young ensemble cast." - 713970, Show Score
"Ambitious, Clever, Great Acting, Entertaining. See it if you want to be immersed into the story of Faust with a new take by a young cast. Lots done with a small set and good lighting." - Patrick M, Show Score
"Absorbing, Clever, Great acting, Entertaining. Old tale in the new twist. Making a pack with the Devil is not all as it seems to be...the lead actor was excellent. -" SarahSueMookie1, Show Score
"Great acting, Entertaining. See it if you want to leave a theater with a smile on your face. I loved it. " - Ceejayyy, Show Score
"Absorbing, Clever, Great acting, Entertaining. Old tale in the new twist. Making a pack with the Devil is not all as it seems to be...the lead actor was excellent." - SarahSueMookie1, Show Score
"Ambitious, Clever, Witty, Bloody, Well played. Two fine performances anchor “THE HYSTERIA OF DR FAUSTUS,” a contemporary morality tale. Those performances are from playwright Brandon Walker & director Erin Cronican, the driving forces behind The Seeing Place Theater, a troupe that for 9 years has produced a steady stream of important modern plays & contemporary twists on older classics." - Jim Jim Jim, Show Score
"Ambitious, Intense, Thought-provoking, Profound, Great writing. This was definitely an interesting experience and a very profound and thought-provoking play. The acting was pretty good and the actors did a wonderful job with their deliverance. The writing was very well done and captivating. The pacing was a bit slow at first but quickly picked up. Although the space was very intimate, the actors all did a fantastic job utilizing it throughout the performance. Overall, it was a nice interpretation of Faust and I highly recommend it." - DramaQueen95, Show Score
"Funny, Absorbing, Ambitious, Intense, Quirky. See it if you want to see a play that will fit in nicely with Halloween around the corner, and if you want to support a great theatre company...The Hysteria of Dr. Faustus, in its best moments, is a delightfully macabre dark comedy. Brandon Walker's Faustus and Erin Cronican's Mephistopheles have wonderful chemistry together. " - Buddha-Pig, Show Score
"I strongly recommend that you HURRY to see the ENTERTAINING, INTELLIGENT, and PROVOCATIVELY INCISIVE "Seeing Place Theater" production titled: "THE HYSTERIA OF DR. FAUSTUS". I was impressed by the INSIGHTFUL and INVENTIVE SCRIPT -- written by the Seeing Place Theater's own BRANDON WALKER -- and by the CREATIVE and MOOD-ENHANCING DIRECTION -- by the Theater's own ERIN CRONICAN -- and by the RICH AND SKILLFULLY PERFORMED ACTING -- by Ms. CRONICAN, Mr. WALKER, as well as by BROGHANNE JESSAMINE and CANDICE ODEN . But also, overall, I was impressed by the MESSAGE inherent in the script, as well as by -- in my view -- the ENGAGING AND ENTERTAINING way that this original, clever show, was done...I've been to "The Seeing Place Theater" for other shows on previous occasions, and I've typically been impressed by their willingness to invest themselves into creating, and performing, plays that, in my opinion, are WELL-PRODUCED, THOUGHT-PROVOKING, and RELEVANT TO OUR TIMES: "The Seeing Place Theater" productions MAKE A PERSON THINK. And I would rate "THE HYSTERIA OF DR. FAUSTUS" up there along that same line. See it if you can. " Steven Steinberg, via Facebook
