Where do I start! This is such a relevant issue in so many people's lives...Calafato brings light to such a serious issue in a very entertaining way, while still continuing to be classy and informative about the real issue. I found myself relating in some way to each character portrayed which was somewhat comforting but also sad. You will be taken on an emotional ride laughing, crying, and becoming angry that this ACTUALLY happens in our higher education systems. I felt that the length of the play was long enough to make his point and short enough to not lose your attention (although, I would have sat another hour to watch this performer...)This young man is a talented performer, storyteller, and writer. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Bravo, Mr. Calafato for your ability to take serious issue and bring it to life!

Yes, I am yelling with the caps. Student loan debt and for profit colleges are serious issues for everyone in America. Our tax dollars are funding the for profits, and it's a giant cash cow for the shareholders but a terrible drain for most of the students. And believe me, the faculty and staff aren't seeing any of the pie. Calafato clearly shows the why. I was nodding, shaking my head and finally shaking with anger. But I was also laughing. It's not only didactic, it's didactic done well--a 75 minutes well spent. Go, go, go. I give 4 stars, as it's a work in progress, but I'm a tough grader! I gave Pacino 4 stars, too! Very impressive, and this is a young writer/actor to watch.

One voice for many

This play explores an issue that has too long been ignored -and worse still accepted- across America. I was so moved by his performance, which is deeply personal, political, funny, and original. Student loan debt is no laughing matter. While kicking and screaming on behalf of people strangled by the system every day, Calafato cleverly weaves humor into his numerous characters. The story is told with energy and skill, and it is clear that Calafato is working passionately to use theatre as a tool for the greater good.

A brilliant artist at work!

This was such a significant and important story that was created by an energetic and brilliant actor. Aaron Calafato is an extraordinary writer and actor. I myself being a foreigner and not so informed about the student loan crisis, was able to get educated and learn quite extensively about this issue, and it left me actively wondering "What can I do to change this?" And aside from the informative aspect of this show, it was seriously entertaining. The story arch is mesmerizing and the multiple characters Aaron Calafato plays are so amusing and touching. Go watch this show NOW! I highly recommend it.

Young talented actor on his way!

I was very happily satsified with the performance given by Aaron Calafato in this play! This issue that he speaks about affects every single person in some way, whether you went to college or know someone in college, and it definitely applies to me on a personal level. The characters that he portrays were funny and entertaining, but definitely remind me of people I have met throughout life and that's what makes this play so real and easy to relate to. I hope that people take the time to go out and see this play "For Profit" and support a talented actor on the rise!

Everyone must see this show!

I'm usually more of a fan of musical theater and straight plays bore me to death. But this show is really amazing! It was funny (much funnier than I thought it would be), it was moving (I might have gotten a bit weepy at some points), and it was so honest and raw with the subject matter. Aaron Calafato is an integral part of the student loan reform movement and his unique artistry only adds to the story. $1 trillion dollars in student loan debt is James and the other characters Aaron portrays in 'For Profit.' But, that $1 trillion dollars is also Aaron and his wife and so many others. Please see this show. Please talk about this show. Please do something to get involved to change the broken system of higher education!

Must See!

I didn't know what to expect when I went to see "For Profit." I've never seen a one-man show before and certainly never saw a show about the for-profit education industry or student loan debt. Within the first two minutes, however, I realized I was in for something truly special. Aaron Calafato is a gifted actor with a heart of gold. It was obvious that this show was a labor of love for him, as well as a bit of penance, designed to get a much-needed message out to the public about the dangers of the industry and how it preys upon the most vulnerable in society. What was most pleasantly surprising about the show was how truly funny it was. Aaron has a gift for physical comedy, impersonations and highly insightful and conveying useful information in a unique and novel manner for anyone even remotely interested in, or affected by the issues. I'd recommend this show to anyone and everyone.

For Profit

The show was educational, thought provoking and entertaining at the same time. The actor really gave you the ins and outs of how devious for profit education can be and he illustrates how a person can go against their own morals to justify harming others in order to receive a paycheck. This play is ideal for high school seniors and anyone that has considered going to schools that are not accredited city or state universities.
