“You want to be the pebble in the pond that creates the ripple for change.” - Tim Cook
During the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic, The Seeing Place Theater launched a brand new initiative called the Ripple For Change Award, to stand with and support non-profit organizations who are making immense contributions to their communities in the area of social justice.
The Oxford Reference defines social justice as:
The objective of creating a fair and equal society in which each individual matters, their rights are recognized and protected, and decisions are made in ways that are fair and honest.
How are Ripple For Change Award Winners selected?
We start by choosing a non-profit organization whose work echoes the themes of a play we’re presenting. Each RIPPLE FOR CHANGE Award comes with the following:
• a financial prize worth $1000 (or more) for the non-profit organization
• a benefit performance in the non-profit's honor using a play that mirrors the cause of the organization
• invitation to be a featured guest at a post-show panel discussion to build awareness of their cause
• promotion and support as an official Ripple For Change Award Winner
Please join us in acknowledging 2020's RIPPLE FOR CHANGE Award Winners!
If you know of an organization interested in being considered for a Ripple For Change Award, please email Executive Artistic Director Erin Cronican for more details and include your website, your mission statement, and any other supportive documents about your cause.
