The
Seeing Place Theater is an actor-driven ensemble
known for its intense and intimate work, based in New York City since 2009. We are forcefully
committed to:
ORGANIC
ACTING PROCESS: Through
robust table work and improvisation, we deeply train our actors
to bring organic work from rehearsal into performance, focus on honoring
the actors' artistry in
creating character and building a story that is raw and alive on a night-to-night basis.
EXPLORING THE THEATRICAL CANON: We focus on plays rarely seen at the independent level: master works by some of the best playwrights in the canon: Caryl Churchill, Sam Shepard, Martin McDonagh, Rebecca Gilman, Anton Chekhov, John Patrick Shanley, Marsha Norman, William Shakespeare, to name a few. We present these works with a "here and now" lens, deeply exploring the texts to bring out their modern relevance.
