Current Season: The Seeing Place Theater

For our 10th Season, even amidst COVID-19, we bring you 4 stories that expose the fight for autonomy. Who controls our well-being? How far will we go to claim our destiny as our own? Through seminal works by Pulitzer Prize Tony and Nobel Nominees, and masters of the theatrical canon, we are initiating a deep conversation about what it means to be human, and how these works reflect the trials and tribulations we experience in today's society.

We sure hope you'll join us for our landmark 10th Season and help us create a new conversation to connect with your fellow man. Perhaps, as Gandhi said, we together can be the change we wish to see in the world.

		KEELY AND DU by Jane Martin TSP Ripple For Change Series October 31-November 7, 2020 via Zoom and YouTube Co-Directed by Brandon Walker and Erin Cronican 1994 Nominee for the Pulitzer Prize. From the author of Talking With and Vital Signs, KEELY AND DU is a volatile drama about abortion rights. Du is a right-to-life activist, and Keely is the pregnant rape victim Du is confining to keep her from having an abortion. Through the play these two women find a way to transcend their circumstances and the ideological issues that separate them. This play is being presented as a benefit for Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood of the St Louis Region. RHS is a 501(c)(3) corporation specializing in women’s reproductive health, specifically abortion services. In addition to being the only state-licensed abortion facility in Missouri for many years, RHS is the longest standing non-profit abortion provider in the state of Missouri. The Seeing Place feels it's important to recognize and support reproductive health facilities in "red" states when access, which is constitutionally protected, is being restricted. More info... 		A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by William Shakespeare TSP Ripple For Change Series August 29-September 4, 2020 via Zoom & YouTube Directed by Brandon Walker and Erin Cronican This play tells the tale of Hermia & Lysander (a lesbian couple) and Helena & Demetrius; four misguided lovers whose escape into the woods lands them in even more trouble, as members of the fairy kingdom decide to use them as veritable pawns in their own love games. One of the most famous of literary love quadrangles, the play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world. This play is a benefit for The Ali Forney Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting LGBTQ youths from the harms of homelessness and empower them with the tools needed to live independently. 		DUTCHMAN by Amiri Baraka TSP Ripple For Change Series July 18-25, 2020 via Zoom & YouTube Directed by Brandon Walker Set on a New York Subway train, DUTCHMAN opens as a young black man, Clay, is interrupted from his thoughts by Lula, a flirtatious and slightly older white woman he smiled at through the windows when the train stopped. Their conversation, which starts as playful, slowly becomes more personal, more cruel, and reveals, from both perspectives, the many political, psychological, and physical conflicts that face Black men in America. 		ANIMAL FARM by Brandon Walker TSP Mainstage February 13-23, 2020 Directed by Brandon Walker and Erin Cronican. 75th Anniversary of the publishing of this novella Animal Farm, an allegorical play, tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy.
